DVD Decrypter
Below you can find the link to the wiki page of DVD Decrypter and to download you can google for it, no direct links available.(very strongly recommended for ripping VOBs to hard disk).

pgc.NET
Below you can find the link to the home page for pgc.NET, go to downloads page from there and download pgc.NET. This is another tool for ripping .vob files.

DVD Fab Decrypter (shareware - 30 days evaluation period)
Below you can find the link to the download page for DVD Fab Decrypter. If you cannot find DVD Decrypter described above you may want to use this software instead.(Once the .vob files are ripped you will need to use vStrip see below to strip off the unwanted tracks...from the .vobs and create one single .vob file).
DVD Fab Decrypter

vStrip
Below you can find the link to the download page for vStrip. If you use a software for ripping the .vob files from DVD that outputs multiple .vob files use this software to merge them together.
To do this, open vStrip_gui.exe, on the Input tab click add and add the .vob files just ripped, then on the IFO tab select the .IFO file corresponding to the .vobs you added previously then select the correct movie track by selecting the one with the longest time. Then click on the Output tab and click the button "..." and choose where you want to save the output VOB and click Run (bottom left), this will take a few minutes.

Video Lan VLC Media Player
Below you can find the link to the home page of VLC media player (very strongly recommended for the playback of videos).

MPlayer (inc. Mencoder)
This application is the real brains behind the converting of Movie Library ++ and if you want the full power and flexibility of video conversion this is the software you need, please not that this is a command line application so to be used by advanced users only.

SMPlayer (MPlayer GUI)
This application is based on the popular mplayer and it will play almost any file and is extremely lightweight. Below you can find the link to the home page of SMPlayer (very strongly recommended for the playback of videos).

Media Player Classic
Below you can find the link to the home page of Media Player Classic (very strongly recommended for the playback of videos although it uses Direct Show and therefore you need to have all the codecs installed by installing a codec pack such as K-Lite codec pack or Vista codec package for Vista. This link might be useful too.).

Media Player Classic Mirror 2

I Usually use VLC as it has more options than most players, and also is very lightweight. VLC also plays almost any file without problem which is therefore the best choice for overall use, but I have noticed that it has sometimes some problems with h.264 content (something to do with how it deals with b-frames, which is why for h.264 encoded files I usually use SMPlayer or Media Player classic. You might be interested in knowing that SMPlayer is the most RAM efficient, then VLC and finally Media Player Classic. But even the "worst" (Media Player Classic) is still easily more efficient compared to other comercial and big company software such as Windows Media Player, itunes, Real Player... Using VLC under vista you need to change "output video module" from default to directX 3d or directX video or OpenGL, choose the one that looks better.
